The Princess Party!

This is going to be a long post... Elysse's birthday was such a fun day with many "Kodak moments." (Is Kodak still around?) Anyway, here it goes...

Our little Elysse is 3 years old! A few days before her birthday, Dave took her to the store to pick out any cereal she wanted. So, she chose the one with the "little green guy." Michelle, if you're reading this, thanks for the idea of a fun cereal for a birthday breakfast! I wasn't much in the mood for making a fancy breakfast after staying up all night decorating the (leaning) cake...

Look closely...The Frog Prince! Elysse wanted a chocolate cake with pink icing, so I did my best. I should mention that this is my first attempt at ever making a scratch cake. Natalie O., thank you for the many, many phone calls! If you want to see a cuter Frog Prince cake, look here.

On to the party... We started by making crowns:

The finished products:

Then a puppet show ("The Frog Prince") courtesy of Kailey and Nima:

Then lunch:
And after some singing games and princess songs, we saw a vision of blue, yellow, and red walking across the crescent. Here is Elysse welcoming our visitor (I love the look in her eyes in this picture!)...Snow White!
After some pictures with Snow White, it was FINALLY time for cake! The kids were so patient (especially Jayna!). After we finished singing to Elysse, she yelled, "THANKS!" Then it took her three big blows and a small amount of spit to get the candles out - it was pretty funny!

Snow White taught the kids how princesses eat birthday cake: they sit up tall, hold their pinkies up, and say "Dee-licious!" Elysse has been doing it all week!

Then a few presents, and that was that! What a day!

Here are a few more pictures from the day...

Grandma Olsen pulled out all the dress-up clothes as soon as we got there, so everyone was dressed up as some kind of royalty!

The party favours... paper cones filled with Jelly Belly jelly beans. If you want the template, go here.
Princess Cargo??
Kailey came all the way from Halifax for the weekend. I couldn't have done the party without her and it was so fun to have her here. Thanks, Kails!

Grandma Olsen in her grad dress. (But I'm thinking the wig was a later addition to the outfit!)

Pinkies up! Josie Burgess and Snow White...

What a fun day! Thanks everyone and Happy Birthday, Elysse!

That looks like the best birthday party ever! I'm sure she'll remember it for a long time. Cute ideas. I hear you about the cake from scratch. I made my first one for Jeff's last birthday...a black forest cake. It also leaned. Cute pictures and ideas.
