Home Sweet Home

I admit, it was a little strange to come home to a house we'd only lived in for less than two weeks before we left for California. It didn't really feel like "home." But we've been home for a week, and we're all unpacked (except for the two huge bags that are still in California!), and it is starting to feel like home.

I definitely miss California life, but it is good to be back. It's been a busy week between unpacking and groceries and birthdays and driving to Calgary, but we are starting to settle back into a routine. Thank goodness for that - I am all about routines. (Did anyone else used to plan their days/weeks/study sessions out minute by minute? I guess that's why I'm a conductor - that's how I plan my rehearsals!) And Chanelle is also responding well, as she slept through the night last night for the first time since we left for California. I had to run in in the morning to make sure she was still breathing!

So here are some pictures from our first week back home.

Dave had the girls in the tent one evening (in the backyard) the whole time I was making dinner! It was great (and entirely new) to cook an entire meal without any interruptions!

How sweet are they?? Elysse and Jenna are so cute together. Many pictures of them to come with the dance class they are doing together.

Elysse wrote the "D" and Dave made it into "Dave." Then Elysse said, "Now I'll write your other name." She then wrote "DAD" all by herself! Nima was there and can testify to this amazing feat! (Okay, we're a little proud! Now if we could only get past 13 when we're counting with her!)

The future Olsen Volleyball team.

Dave doesn't love this picture, but Chanelle is so cute! This is the bike Amy bought in California. Now the rest of us want one!

Amy the tickle monster. This was after we surprised her for her 25th birthday.

Then the next day was Becca's 25th birthday, so we spent the afternoon at Mill Creek Pool. Not the most stellar picture of me, but it was such a fun day!

Yesterday, Elysse and I met Mom in Calgary to see the Lion King. We loved it and had such a great day.
